How Does the Region Support Agriculture?

Chef Rinauro of Mineral in Murphys, a modern haute vegetarian restaurant that uses many local, primarily organic ingredients.

In addition to the support from highly functioning local agricultural associations, and from local vendors and the community, the agricultural community benefits from being adjacent to California’s Great Central Valley. According to the Great Valley Center, this region is the “most productive agricultural region in the country…” Thus, there is great access to agricultural supplies, and regional farm labor contractors. The Central Valley offers expert advice from public agencies, private organizations, and educational institutions. One example is the University of California at Davis which has large and small animal veterinary schools and hospitals. They also excel in plant breeding, are known for their outstanding viticulture and aquaculture courses, and offer extensive outreach to the agricultural community.
